If one member of a Team decides that they do not want to participate, then all the other members need to do is to do their project and show me the revision history. As this is an "optional" assignment, then the Team member who creates the document does not have to "share" it with the person(s) who opt not to.
This is what a lot of people in the non-for-profit, government, and for-profit world do - exercise the ability to perform projects with people who "opt-out".
